012610: Tripartite Threat to American Freedom: Big Government, Bigger Business, and Supranational Agents:: The American TEA Party movement identifies oversized government as a primary enemy of liberty. We also recognize the growing threat that international bodies such as the UN and WTO pose to our national sovereignty. And you don’t have to be a TEA Party Patriot to understand the obvious danger when large multinationals and foreign corporations funnel big money into our electoral system. But what happens when two or all three of these beasts join forces against the American people?
This year we’ve seen three clear examples of this synergistic threat:

 1. Wall Street Bailouts and Corporate Takeovers

2. Obamacare

3. Cap-and-Trade
American conservatives, independents and even some GOP leaders and far-left liberals have so far blocked the two behemothic perils of Obamacare and cap-and-trade and blunted further bailouts.

4. Foreign and Unfettered Corporate Money in Elections:
But, a corporation is not a natural person and should not carry all the same rights as us natural American citizens. Where the Court’s decision allows easier access to American elections by multinationals with no loyalty to the United States and for foreign corporate money, we are gravely concerned. We are also concerned by the already dangerous sway held by domestic corporations (bailouts, Obamacare and cap-and-trade are again examples).
Conservatives inside the TEA Party movement have known of this corporate threat. But it may surprise some liberals to hear that we will fight it for the same reasons we fought bailouts, Obamacare and cap-and-trade: “Don’t Tread On Me!”

Now, a fourthsynergistic threat to American liberty is gaining momentum. With the recent Supreme Court decision on campaign finance, barriers to foreign money in American elections may well be weakened. Most TEA Party Patriots support the principle of individual Americans spending their own money on political campaigns to the fullest extent that they choose, and thus we are cheered by this potential implication of the Court’s decision.: Obama’scarbon emission regulation and trading scheme which would use federal law to force American citizens to comply withinternational governance and trade agreements controlling who may consume what product and at what price, and would further force every American entity participating in business into a carbon credit trading scheme controlled by, you guessed it, huge domestic and multinational corporations that stand to make a killing skimming fees off every carbon credit transaction. All of this would be to the detriment of America’s economic and military strength.: Obama’s health care purchasing mandate which would use federal law and the IRS to bludgeon private citizens into buying health insurance from government-selected private corporations.: Massive infusions of federal tax dollars to “save” government-selected financial houses and industries have articificially propped up certain coporations and near monopolies, distorted risk perception in the market, backstopped bad decisions by private business, and interrupted the creative destruction on which capitalism and innovation depend. All to the tune of massive deficit while at the same time preventing entry into the marketplace of smaller, leaner, better competitors. This sparked the American TEA Party movement.
